Wild Wild West (blu-ray) - Var [1999]

Wild Wild West is a 1999 American Western action comedy film directed by Barry Sonnenfeld. The movie stars Will Smith and Kevin Kline as two agents (Jimmie and Artemus) in 1869, tasked with saving President Ulysses S. Grant from the clutches of Dr. Arliss Loveless (Kenneth Branagh). Although the film features some great performances and moments of comedy, it ultimately falls short of expectations. Despite the impressive cast and elaborate sets, Wild Wild West fails to capture the spirit of the beloved original TV series. The plot, filled with anachronistic gadgets and ridiculous scenarios, feels forced and disjointed at times, while the characters lack the depth and nuance of their small-screen counterparts. That being said, the film has its moments of sheer entertainment, largely thanks to Will Smith's charismatic performance as Jim West. Smith brings a level of energy and humor to the role, making up for some of the movie's weaker elements. Overall, while Wild Wild West may be worth a watch for fans of the genre or the actors, it falls short of the mark.
