The Maxi 4" Hand Held Soil Blocker is a useful product that offers excellent value for gardeners. There are three different sizes of soil blocks that are used for different seedlings starting with 1x1 seedling blocks, then 2x2 seedling blocks, and finally the 4x4 blocks for larger plants like tomatoes and peppers. A mixture of 3.5 parts compost, 2 parts each of peat moss, coco coir, and pumice fines or perlite, 0.5 parts worm castings, 1 cup each of feather meal, rock phosphate, and greensand, works best with the soil blocker. It is recommended to wet the mixture hours before making blocks, and to adjust the nutrients according to the total quantity being made. Feedback from customers has been mixed, with some recommending the product and people experimenting with soil composition, while others say it is too big and tim Consuming with only one block made at a time. You need quite a bit of soil to pack it, and it does not sit flush with each other, which can make fitting them into a tray difficult. Overall, it is a well-built product that works very well if you get your soil composition right.
